While yearling sales season is the proverbial marathon, it still begins with a first step.
That will be in the direction of Lexington's Newtown Paddocks for The July Sale. Fasig-Tipton has released the catalog of 286 selected yearlings for their July 9th single-session auction.
Gr1-winning July Sale graduates include Rosalind (photo), sold to trainer Kenny McPeek in 2012 for $70,000. The Hurstland Farm-reared daughter of Broken Vow would win the Gr1 Ashland S. in a dead-heat & Gr2 Sheepshead Bay S. on turf.
The July Sale & preceding day's Horses of Racing Age Sale will be the first held in Kentucky since a joint statement on enhanced medication rules from America's three largest auction houses.
The new policy further reduces the number of permitted therapeutic medications for use on sale horses while including all substances banned under HISA's Anti-Doping & Medication Control Program.
