Stay Hot and Prerequisite look to bolster their dam's already impressive page when contesting Del Mar's Hollywood Derby and Matriarch S., both Gr1 events (and one-time Hollywood Park standards).

The Peter Eurton-trained Stay Hot drew the rail for Saturday's $300,000 Hollywood Derby. The Summer Front ridgling has won the Gr3 Cecil B. DeMille S. over the course (video) and more recently finished a closing 2nd to both fellow entrants Formidable Man and Atitlan.

Only two starts into her 4yo season, Prerequisite signaled in October's Athenia S. she's near the form of 2023, when she won the Gr2 Wonder Again S. and finished 2nd in the Gr1 Belmont Oaks Invitational. The 4yo daughter of Upstart is one of four Chad Brown stablemates in the one-mile Matriarch.

Stay Hot and Prerequisite are back-to-back yearling graduates of Airdrie Stud, which acquired Etsu at Keeneland's 2018 November Sale for $35,000. Bred by the late Mike Baum's Man o'War Farm, the Smart Strike mare is out of a 1/2 sister to champion filly Farda Amiga.
