It's been some time since a mating to Smart Strike made Giant Mover a stakes producer. Earlier this week out at Keeneland, you'd have hardly thought a year had passed.

The black-type winning dam of MGSW Family Tree & classic-placed Liora belied much of her 17 years beneath a sun-drenched morning sky. The Giant's Causeway mare was catalogued as part of Dell Ridge Farm's November Sale Dispersal & purchased in foal to Army Mule by Meadow Oaks Farm for $90,000.

Giant Mover last appeared at Keeneland in 2011 when selling to Dell Ridge out of the Ned Evans Breeding Dispersal. The stakes-winning daughter of high-class sprinter Gold Mover produced Family Tree from her sole booking to Smart Strike for the partnership of Dell Ridge & Sam-Son Farms.

The versatility of the late Evans' breeding operation was evident throughout Family Tree's career. She graduated first-out for Wayne Catalano sprinting at Kentucky Downs before transferring her class to dirt as a 3yo, winning the Iowa & Indiana Oaks in succession.

Giant Mover subsequently produced Liora (Candy Ride), Gr2 Golden Rod S. winner & 2019 Kentucky Oaks runner-up, also trained by Catalano.
