Jockey Jorge Luis made the most of the free pace and perfectly positioned Sparkle Blue to win yesterday's Gr2 Hillsborough Stakes in Tampa Bay. At the same time, victory is rarely far from the hands of hard-span mares, so after rigorous on-site preparation, the Graham Motion-trained horse is poised to return to the winner's circle. Lewis dictated pedestrian proportions for Sparkle Blue, who responded in a straight line with a determined determination to upset runner-up Aspen Grove. Hillsboro is the fourth stakes win for Sparkle Blue, a product of Catherine Park, out of the Smart Strike mare Silk'n Sapphire. Her 1/2 sister Shared Account is one of four Breeders' Cup winners and the dam of the newborn colt Into Mischief.
