Under confident handling by regular partner Jorge Ruiz, Sparkle Blue turned back a bid by Cut From Class to win Laurel Park's $100,000 Big Dreyfus for a 2nd consecutive year.

Sunday's old-school confidence builder should lead Sparkle Blue into a bid for millionaire status next time out. Trainer Graham Motion suggested the MGSW may be earmarked for a return to Kentucky Downs.

“She ran really well there last year, so that’s something we’ll definitely think about,” Motion said.

Sparkle Blue is a five-time added money winner, including the Gr2 Hillsborough S. in March.

Campaigned by breeder Catherine Parke with George Strawbridge, the 5yo Hard Spun mare is out of Silk n' Sapphire (Smart Strike), also granddam of recent 2yo debut winner Sharedashenanigans. That Graham Motion trainee is the first runner out of Sharing (Speightstown), who emulated her dam Shared Account with a Breeders' Cup victory.

Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect) was a Sam-Son Farm broodmare acquisition the year prior to Sharing's Juvenile Fillies Turf triumph.
